Mary Lenora Rose, was a wonderful, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Lenora was born on January 15, 1916 to Henry Lloyd and Maud Alice Halliburton in Crosby, Texas. She passed away in Austin on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the grand age of 96 years old. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lenora moved to San Antonio with her parents in 1931 and attended school. She later met and married Melbert B. Rose on May 28, 1933. They were married for 70 years prior to his death on September 3, 2003. She started working for USAA on February 1, 1950 and retired after 25 years of service on February 1, 1975.

She was an avid bowler participating in many local leagues and traveling to tournaments across the country. She was nominated as one of the top female bowlers in San Antonio.

Lenora and Melbert belonged to a Bunko Club for 50 years. They also enjoyed spending time with friends and family at their fishing place on Caney Creek, near Bay City, Texas.

Lenora was preceded in death by her husband, Melbert B. Rose, her son, Gary Russell Rose, as well as her parents, brothers, and sisters. Survivors include her grandson, Gary Michael Rose and wife, Connie, her granddaughter, Wendy Rose Shepperd and husband, Ken and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends. She loved her family beyond words as well as her dear lifelong friends, Carroll and Julie Schmidt who were always there for her. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary.
