Folk Musician. He was the singer, songwriter and leader of the folk group "Los Jaivas," Chile´s longest-surviving and most popular group that synthesized folk and rock. They were one of the first groups to combining Latin American native music with electronic instruments. The Jaivas began in Viña del Mar in 1963, and was founded by the brothers Gabriel, Claudio and Eduardo Parra, in addition to Eduardo Alquinta and Mario Mutis. They recorded several songs, as "Todos Juntos," which in 1996 was the official hymn of the Latin American Summit of Presidents that took place in Santiago, Chile.
