Ella and her twin brother, Elza, were the last two children born to Harvey and Rhoda Dimmitt.

Mrs. Ella Copeland, 77, of 303 N. Graves, died Thursday at 8:35 a.m. at Ottumwa Hospital.


Born July 25, 1899, in Wapello County to Harvey and Jennie Goudy Dimmitt, she had lived in Ottumwa most of her life and attended the First Assembly of God. She married Earl Copeland Dec. 31, 1919, in Ottumwa. He died in 1959.


Surviving are five sons, Kenneth and Larry, both of Ottumwa, Roy of Douds, Jack of Fairfield and Fred of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four daughters, Pauline Pettit of Centerville, Marilyn Williams of Omaha, Neb., and Bonita Anderson and Judy Northup, both of Ottumwa; 27 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and a twin brother, Elza Dimmitt of Bloomfield.


Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Donelson of the First Assembly of God officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Everett Garber, Mel and Clair Pettit and Paul, Robert and Don Dimmitt.
