Henry Clayton Day

Henry Clayton Day was born on September 18,1910 in New Madrid County, son of John Henry Day and Rhoda Lee (Cooper) Day. Henry was the third of eight children. He had five brothers and two sisters. His oldest brother, Johny, died at the age of 22 from an accidental drowning. A baby brother named Earl, passed away at less than one year of age.

Henry Day lived in New Madrid County most of his life. Many of the census records and other documents state his residence as "Henderson Mounds" or "Hough". Present day these townships would be around Matthews and East Prairie, Missouri. Henry farmed these areas as did his father and other Day family members.

On December 9, 1933 Henry Clayton Day married Delphia Cathern Adams. Together they had seven children. Sons; Alvin Charles Day, Henry Clayton "Junior" Day both of Fenton, MO., John Charles Day of Downey, CA., Lindel Joseph "Joe" Day of Arnold, MO., daughters; Faye Dene Byassee of AZ., Carolyn Eugene Hunt of Fenton, MO. and Doris Pearl Chunn of MO.

His wife preceded him in death on July 25, 1989.

Henry Day passed away on a Tuesday afternoon, October 28, 1997 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri. He was 87 years of age.

He was survived by his 7 children, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
