JONESPORT - Vannie Nadine Manchester Alley, 90, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2015 at Patten Pond House in Surry where she had resided for several years. She was born September 1, 1924 in Addison the tenth child of Milton and Mertie (Church) Manchester of Jonesport. Vannie married Reginald A. Alley of Beal's Island on October 15, 1944 at Kennebec and resided in Jonesport for many years celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary before his death in 2007.Vannie was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She also loved her pets and was especially fond of her Pekingese dogs. From a young age she worked at local sardine factories retiring from Stinson Seafood in Prospect Harbor. Vannie's scissors are on display at the Sardine Museum in Jonesport.Vannie is survived by her son Arthur Alley and his wife Mary of Lamoine; granddaughter Cynthia Hawes, husband Thomas and great grandson Derek of Ellsworth; granddaughter Jennifer Alley, husband Eric Jacobson and great grandson Evan of Cambridge, Massachusetts; sister Florence Smith of Jonesport and sister Dorothy White of Jonesport and West Bath; many nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends. A special thanks to Charles and Sharon Lakeman and Dickie and Glenda Gray.Vannie was predeceased by her husband Reginald A. Alley and her siblings Hiley Manchester of Jonesport, Harold Manchester of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Ivy Gould of Friendship, Lessie Manchester of Jonesport, Leroy Manchester of Jonesport, Frank Manchester of Quincy, Massachusetts, Thurston Manchester of Addison and Katie Foss of Jonesport.Visiting hours will be Tuesday June 23, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday June 24, 2015 from 11:00-12:30 a.m.A funeral service will be held Wednesday June 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church on Main Street in Jonesport.Contributions may be made in Vannie's name to the Community of Christ Church, Main Street, Jonesport, Maine 04649 or to the Ark Animal Shelter, P.O.
