Like so many German memorials on foreign territory this one is about to dissapear, the city of Sedan is currently debating the possible destruction of an German memorial, part of a old cemetry. After the German bodies were removed and transfered to another cemetry the memorial was forgotten and left to decay over the years. Since 2009 there have been threads on several WWI and military forums about the dreadful state of the memorial, it appears that the French locals can not find it in their hearts to forgive the German boys who came to the city almost a century ago to fight their final battle.
