James C. Mason Dies In Scotland County
Funeral Service To Be Held Today For Last Surviving Confederate Vet.
Laurinburg, May 27 -
James C. Mason, Scotland County's last surviving Confederate Veteran and a prominent land owner of the Masons Cross section died last midnight of injuries suffered in a fall last Wednesday.
Mr. Mason, relatives said, accidentally spilled kerosene oil on the floor, slipped and fell. He broke a hip and an arm. He was taken to a hospital where he died.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. O. W. McManus and Mrs. L. M. Blue, both of Gibson.
