Hildegard Marie Wieting, age 94, of Kiel, died Tuesday morning, June 5, 2012 at Oak Creek Assisted Living, Kiel. She was the former Hildegard Buchholz born January 26, 1918, daughter of the late William & Alma (Perronne) Buchholz. Hildegard attended Kiel schools. On September 21, 1940 she married Willard E. Wieting in Urbana, Indiana. Willard preceded her in death on December 23, 1979. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig until 1960 when they moved to Kiel where Hildegard worked at the Kiel Middle School in the lunch program as a cook. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel and the Women's Guild at the church. Hildegard enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her great granddaughter, Hilde. She also just welcomed her second great granddaughter, Adeline. Hildegard enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, quilting, playing cards and traveling. Survivors include her daughter, Judith Gries of Kiel, granddaughter, Sarah (Adam) Wallander, Cato, great granddaughters: Hilde Marie and Adeline Gene Wallander, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard, son-in-law, Eugene Gries, her sister & brothers: William (LenDoris) Buchholz, Anita (Lester) Schnell and Elmer (Ruth) Buchholz. Funeral services for Hildegard will be held Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel with Rev. Judine Duerwaechter officiating. Burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery.
