LEXINGTON - Mrs. Mildred Inez Alford, 74, of 703 Pinecrest Road passed away Sept. 2, 2007 at High Point Regional Hospital. Born in Davidson County on July 16, 1933 to Tom Lee and Susie Starbuck Hughes, she made this area her home for her entire life. She was employed with Carolina Underwear and was retired from Kaybe Mills. She attended
Clarksbury United Methodist Churst. She enjoyed her activities of listening to gospel music, her Bible Circle, and traveling, but she especially loved those times spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Lillie Mae Beck, Joyce Fouts and Rhonda Kay Hughes, and by her beloved husband Charlie M. Alford on March 6, 2007. Surviving are her daughter, Sherry Lynn Apple of Asheboro; sons, Ricky Alford and wife Mary Elizabeth of Leesburg, VA, and Gary Alford and wife Sharon of Lexington; sisters, Thelma Robinson and Arlene Ziegler of St. Louis, MO., Barbara Jean Spencer and husband, Jack, of Emerald Isle, and Sue Hughes of Lexington; brothers, Gene Hughes and Donald Hughes and wife, Lois of Thomasville, and Darrell Hughes and Roger Hughes of Lexington; grandchildren, Brandon Alfrd, Samantha Alford, and Jeffrey Riddle, Jr. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clarksbury United Methodist Church by the Rev. Chris Sheffield and the Rev. C. Darren Everhart. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
