Friends and relatives, numbering 138, attended the open house Sunday, January 22, when Mr. and Mrs. John J. Frecks celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at their home in Culbertson. Mr. and Mrs. Frecks, who are the parents of seven children, were married January 20, 1921 in Palisade at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reinke Meints. All of their seven children, accompanied by their wives and husbands, and 14 of their 20 grandchildren were present for the occasion. They included Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Frecks of Orem, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. John M. Frecks and Laurie and Cathy of Longmont, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Frecks and Terry, Debra and Michael of Millard, Nebraska; Mr. ande Mrs. Albert Michel and Brenda of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Michel and Vera of Springfield, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Wudtke and Dennis, Patty, and Stanley of McCook, Nebraska; and Mr. and Mrs. Alvere Frecks and Cheryl, Gary, Karen, and Mark of Culbertson. The couple also have three great-grandchildren.

The lace covered serving table was centered with a two-tier wedding cake decorated with red roses and flanked by tall white tapers and red roses in crystal candle vases. All of the table appointments were in crystal.

Two granddaughters, Cheryl Frecks and Patty Wudtke, registered the guests and decorated the money tree.

Serving the cake, ice cream, coffee and punch were their daughter, Mrs. Erwin Wudtke and three daughters-in-law, Mrs. Leonard Frecks, Mrs. John Frecks, and Mrs. Alvere Frecks. Two other daughters, Mrs. Albert Michel and Mrs. Adolf Michel, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ervin Frecks, assisted with the serving. The blue dress, with a varigated top and the corsage of red roses worn by Mrs. Frecks and a red rose boutonniere worn by her husband were

CULBERTSON -- Mrs. Etta Dorothea Frecks died Saturday at the Hillcrest Nursing Home at the age of 80. She was born February 5, 1896 at Macon, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Reinke Meints. She grew up in Hitchcock County and was married January 20, 1921 at Palisade to John J. Frecks, and they made their home in Culbertson. Mr. Frecks died December 18, 1964. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers, and one sister.

Survivors are four sons, Alvere of Culbertson, Leonard of Omaha, John and Ervin, both of Longmont, Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Erwin (Leona) Wudtke of McCook and Mrs. Adolf (Margaret) Michel of Freistatt, Missouri; 25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Albert Meints of Palisade, Walter Meints of Santa Rosa, California, Harm Meints of Seattle, Washington, and William Meints of Thornton, Colorado, and one sister, Mrs. Albert T. Groothuis of Denver.

Services were held on Tuesday April 20, 1976 at Saint John Lutheran Church in Culbertson, Nebr with Rev. Terry Martin officiating. Organist - Mrs. Shirley Stecker; soloist - Ivan Groothuis; selections - "How Great Thou Art;" "Amazing Grace."

Pallbearers: Dennis Wudtke, Gary Frecks, Terry Frecks, Daniel Frecks, Stanley Wudtke, Joe Pennington. Honorary Pallbearers: Albert J. Michel, Billy J. Michel, Mark Frecks, Michael Frecks.

Interment in Culbertson Cemetery, Culbertson, Nebraska. Friends may call at the Herrmann Funeral Chapel in Culbertson.
