Civil War Confederate Soldier. Private McDonald also known as M.M Dunning was a member of the Third Maryland Cavalry. He was held as a prisoner at Fort McHenry for desertion of his post and murder. Private McDonald was the third of three men executed at the fort during it's history as a military prison. Originally McDonald was interred in the soldiers' grave at Fort Mchenry. In 1895 all the burials at the fort were reinterred at Loudon National Cemetery near and under the site of the cemetery's Unknown Soldier Monument.

Note: The VA has no record of M.M. Dunning or George McDonald buried in the National Cemetery, it is unclear is he is actually buried here.
