The following obituary appeared in the Charlotte Observer on April 16, 2009 ...

"Charles Collver 'Chuck' Adams, 78, of Davidson, NC died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at The Pines at Davidson following a valiant battle against esophageal cancer. He was born on April 7, 1931 in East Chicago, IN to the late Chester and Anne Adams."

"Chuck was a Rector Scholar at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, graduating in 1953. He obtained a Masters' Degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1954 and married Marcia Terwilliger of DeKalb, Illinois on June 27 of that year. After serving two years in the Army, he took a job with IBM in Chicago. He spent his entire career with them in the Banking and Finance groups in the Marketing division, serving as Senior Industry Consultant and was instrumental in helping banks transition from bookkeeping systems to computers. He retired in 1987 to River Hills in Lake Wylie, SC."

"In River Hills, Chuck was an avid tennis player and active volunteer at the Clover Area Assistance Center. He was a dedicated church member, his major focus being Missions, where he served as committee chair for several years. He also served three years on the River Hills Community Association Board of Directors."

"His family was his greatest joy and source of pride. Survivors include his wife Marcia T.[Terwilliger] Adams; son, Mark Adams and wife Linda of Cromwell, CT; daughters, Deborah Leavitt and husband Richard of Amherst, NH and Virginia Adams and husband Francis Rack of Hilliard, OH; and six grandchildren, Timothy and Andrew Leavitt, Caitlyn and Collin Rack, and Ryan and Damon Adams. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Anne Shore as well as his parents."

"A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Davidson United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jeff Hassel officiating. A reception will follow at the church. A second service will be held at 3 PM Sunday, April 19 at River Hills Community Church in Lake Wylie, SC with the Reverends Bruce Jones and Kenny Ashley officiating. A reception will follow in the gathering area."
