Maria Arriaga, 81, of Port Lavaca, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012. She was born April 16, 1931 in Alamo, Texas to the late Cristobal and Nicolasa Cantu Martinez.
Maria is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jose Arriaga, Sr., daughters; Irene A. Padron and husband Mike, Criselda Gonzales, Diana Benevides, Maria Rubio and husband Pete, Jr., Gloria Hess and husband Mike and Elma Leal and husband Abram III, sons; Carlos Arriaga, Jessie Arriaga, Richard Arriaga and wife Cynthia and Rene Arriaga, Sr., sisters; Ofelia Andrade, Emma Marmolejo, Rebecca Ordonez and brother Ruben Martinez. Maria also leaves behind 35 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchilren and 1 great-great grandchild to cherish her memory.
She is preceded in death by her parents and son, Jose Arriaga, Jr.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. with Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church with Father Peter officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Benevides, Jr., Sam Gonzales, Jr., Pete Rubio III, Joe Arriaga, Ruben Arriaga, Eric Arriaga.
