William M Privia, 80, a lifelong resident of the Pontoosuc community died Wednesday at 3PM in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Novel Hinman [my edit: Mary Isabel], of Rural Route, Niota. He had been in failing health seven years.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2PM in the Martin Funeral Home at Dallas City. The Rev. Joseph Van Roekel, pastor of the Pontoosuc Presbyterian Church, of which
Mr. Privia was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in the Tull Cemetery.
Mr. Privia was born in Pontoosic Township February 16, 1873. His marriage to Georgia Ann Northrup took place December 4, 1895. His wife preceded him in death. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving besides the daughter, in whose home he died, are a daughter, Mrs. Orville Hinman [my edit: possibly Evelyn], of Niota; two sons, Louis of Niota and WH [my entry: William H. Privia born 13 Feb 1899] of Beardstown; two brothers, Frank of Ft. Madison and John of Davenport, and a sister, Mrs. Abbie Siegfeied of Pontoosuc. A son, Earl, preceded him in death.
