Mary, who was born in Ireland around 1835, is the daughter of Dennis and Ellen Driscoll. It is thought that the family came over from Ireland in the mid-1850's. They possibly were the Driscoll family that immigrated from Ireland on the John Haven on 17 July 1852 (sailed from Liverpool, England to the USA).
Mary's sister, Ellen, married Charles Sheridan. Their two children, Mary Ann (b. 1856) and Ella (b. 1858, Find A Grave Memorial# 66107048) are never shown with their parents in any census. It is thought that Charles and Ellen Sheridan died before 1860. The children were living with their grandparents, Denis and Ellen Driscoll, in 1860.
Mary had another sister, Hannah. She also had a brother, Daniel.
