Cal married a Lincoln County girl, Lillie Jester, in 1896. They settled in the Blanche area and raised 10 children. Cal's mother, Matilda Holland, lived with him after her husband died.

Cal passed away in 1929, Lillie passed away in 1936. They are both buried at New Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Blanche, TN.
