Olaf Amendsen was born in what is now Aurskog-Holand, Akershus fylke, Norway on May 4, 1813. He married Ingeborg Nilsdatter in Setskog, Norway on October 25, 1835. They had 6 children, all born in Norway. He and all of his family migrated to the US on the SS Favorite on June 28, 1849. The earliest US records available show them settling in Stockholm, Pepin County, Wisconsin. Ole passed away on March 5, 1884 in Stockholm, Wisconsin and is buried in Old Sabylund Lutheran Cemetery.
