Daughter of George Howatt & Emma Matilda Smeltzer; wife of John Edward Howard.

Howatt vs. Howitt: According to the book, "A History of West Garafraxa Township", Alfred Howatt (1873-1942) attempted to change the spelling of "Howatt" to "Howitt" simply because the company he worked for in Guelph insisted on spelling it that way. Most records (including Annie's) and the older family gravestones show it as "Howatt"
