Irwin "Mack" Sparks, 68, a resident of Annapolis since 1942, died of heart failure Jan. 10 at his home.

Born in Chester, Mr. Sparks was a 1948 graduate of Annapolis High School. He retired as a draftsman from Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. after 42 years of service.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Annapolis Elks Lodge 622. He coached Little League baseball for many years and enjoyed golf.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Patricia Williams Sparks; four sons, William Franklin Sparks of Annapolis, Stephen Joseph Sparks of Crofton, Dr. Alfred David Sparks of Bel Air in Harford County and Charles Martin Sparks of Stevensville; one daughter, Kelley Sparks Solovieff of Annapolis; one sister, Elmyra Taylor of Chester; 12 grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

He was the brother of the late Vernon Sparks Sr.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St. Burial will be in Stevensville Cemetery.
