Carl R. Waltz, 84, of Reedsville, formerly of State College, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born March 27, 1917, in State College, he was a son of the late Alfred W. and Mary Verna (Hoy) Waltz. His wife, Nancy L. (Snell) Waltz, whom he married April 30, 1983, survives. Also surviving are: children, Patricia Scott, Linda Way, Carl R. Waltz Jr., Edward B. Waltz and Dennis F. Waltz, all of State College; sisters and brothers, Lois Stoner, Oklahoma, Betty Hendrickson, North Carolina, Helen Auman, Lock Haven, Louise Yearick and Charles Waltz, both of New Jersey, Robert Waltz, Delaware, Donald Waltz, Alexandria and Jack Waltz, State College; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He graduated from State College High School. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was owner of the former Waltz Sporting Goods Store in State College. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewistown. He enjoyed big game hunting. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, with the Rev. Gerald Krum officiating. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park. Friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
