Was born in Scotland in 1832, he later immigrated to America in the early 1860's settling in Gold Hill Nevada where he worked as a miner. He was killed in a mining accident at age 35 on March 3rd 1867 in the Chollar-Potgsi Mine and was laid to rest in the Gold Hill Cemetery.
His grave stone has been smashed or stolen by vandals.
