Thomas Carrol Tinsley, 82, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born January 7, 1930, in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late William Franklin and Sue Emma (Souther) Tinsley.

He was retired from Mayfair Mills after 39 years of service, a member of Fairforest Baptist Church, a member of Jackson Mill Masonic Lodge #383, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a Shriner. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Josephine Kimmons Tinsley; a son, Michael Douglas Tinsley (Lynne) of Boiling Springs, SC; a sister, Frankie Sue Ravan (Gene) of Marietta, GA; a brother, Robert "Bob" Tinsley (Elsie) of Lyman, SC; granddaughters, Melissa Tinsley Marlowe (Caleb) of Cooley Springs, SC and Lacey Tinsley of Boiling Springs, SC; great-granddaughter, Tinsley Rebekah Marlowe of Cooley Springs; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was 1:00-1:45 PM, Monday, May 7, 2012, at Fairforest Baptist Church.

Funeral services followed at 2:00 PM at the church, conducted by the Rev. Joe Dempsey, Mr. Joe Weathers, and Mr. John Owens. Entombment was in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to Fairforest Baptist Church, P.O. Box 338, Fairforest, SC 29336.
