Confederate Soldier. Bridwell was a grocer living in Canon City, Colorado in 1880. At that time he was married, his wife's name was Barbara and she was born in Missouri. She died a year later. He outlived two more wives after that, Lulu who died in 1899 and Ella, born in Canada, who died in 1926. By 1920 he had become a real estate broker.

On May 1, 1864 he had enlisted in Warrenton Light Artillery Regiment of Virginia and served in Captain Utterback's company; the regiment surrendered on April 9, 1865 at the Appomattox Court House, Virginia. Bridwell's record is annotated "distinguished service." The regimental history for this unit shows they participated in the following battles:
