A life resident of Barberton, and a U.S. Army veteran, he retired from Roadway Express. He was a member of Barberton Sports Hall of Fame, and was commissioner of Wadsworth Youth Football League. Jim was also active as a coach for Little League Baseball and Youth Football.
Preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Simpson, he is survived by son, Kevin (Bianca) of Colorado; daughter, Karyn Gaugler of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Vanessa, Jonathan, and Matthew; sisters, Bobbie Cox and Nancy (Ron) Haislip; and nephew, Tom Reddick of Columbus.
