William A. Heald was born in Allegheny, Penn., April the ninth, 1842, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. 0. Keir, near Holton, January 20th, 1910, age 67 years, 9 months and 11 days. His mother died when he was but six months old and he was taken to Ohio and grew to manhood in the home of an uncle. When the Civil War broke out he was one of the first to answer his county's call, enlisting in Company B, of the first regiment of Ohio Cavalry volunteers and served faithfully in this capacity for three years and six weeks. In 1867 he came to Kansas where he made his home the remainder ofhis life. He was married to Miss Anna Blain of Vienna, Kansas, in 1875 and to this union were born three daughters, two of whom with the companion of years survive him .... the Onaga cemetery where the body was laid to rest.
