Milton Brinton was in the Confederate Army and died in a Union prison from exposure. Family information says his father, Thomas Brinton, born in KY (1800-1865) drove a team and wagon to Iowa to bring back Milton's body for burial in the Brinton Cemetery, south of Agency, MO.

Milton's mother was Drusella Kimmel, born in KY (1802-1866). Drusella (sometimes Drucilla) was Thomas' 2nd wife.

Milton married Martha Elizabeth Riley (1842-1909) on 28 Jan 1860. Their children were Mary Ann (Brinton) Smiley, 2 Apr 1861 - 14 Jun 1913; Laura Alice (Brinton) Huffman (02 Dec 1862 - 26 Aug 1950); and an infant daughter.

Milton Brinton is my great-grandfather (Shirleen Smiley Gartin).
