Elick Marshal Goin was born near Leesburg, Stafford county, on Oct. 3 1882 and died on Thursday Sept. 12, 1968 at the Pratt Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was a single, retired farmer who had lived in Pratt since 1956 according to an obituary published in the Hutchinson News the day after his death. The obituary also stated that he was a member of the Baptist Church of Pratt and his services were to be at 6 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 15) at the Ayres-Calbeck Chapel, Pratt. Burial at Leesburg Cemetery. (For those who are concerned that the name on the tombstone does not match that of this bio, I will state that he signed his WWI Draft as Alick Marshal Goin, and his name on WWII Draft is Elick Marshell Goin; however, his Social Security record was as Elick. Those family members who I personally knew called him Marshall. I do not know who purchased his headstone.)
