Mrs. Bratley Succumbs to Severe Burns
Mrs. Anna Bratley, 54, who lost her husband, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren in a fire which destroyed the Bratley farm home 20 miles south of here in the town of Big Flats early on the morning of last December 8, died at Riverview hospital at 1.30 o'clock yesterday Afternoon as a result of the burns and internal injuries received during the fire. Mrs. Bratley is the sixth victim (claimed by the fire which started when kerosene was poured in a stove to "make the" fire burn faster and the resultant explosion made the home a mass of flames.
She has been confined at Riverview Hospital since the day of the fire. Deep burns about the face and body and internal injuries made it doubtful that she would recover. Archie Bratley, 10, her son, is slowly recovering at the hospital here and two other sons, James and Joseph, who survive, escaped with only minor burns from the fire.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Big Flats church with Rev. Charles Murray officiating and burial will be in the family lot at the Big Flats cemetery. William Bratley, 64, her husband, Mrs. Joseph Bratley her daughter in law, Lucille, 5, Elizabeth, 3, and Freeman, 9 months, Her grandchildren, all preceded Mrs. Bratley in death December 8.
