John R. Conley, 73, of 500 Phillips Lane, died Saturday, Oct 25, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born on April 16, 1924 in Wellsville, Ohio, the son of Toney A. Sr. and Mary A. Mitchell Conley. He was a load coordinator, having retired from Ohio Valley Electric Corp., in Piketon, Ohio. He was formerly employed by the Indiana Kentucky Electric Corp., in Madison, and was a member of North Madison Christian Church. He was a U.S. Navy vetran of World War II.

He was a member of Union Lodge No., w, F. & A.M., in Madison; the Madison Music Club, was a volunteer for Madison Retired Senior Volunteer Program. and a volunteer soloist at King's Daughters' Hospital and local nursing homes.

Survived by daughter's Janice Franklin of Frankfort, Ky., and Linda J. Emerson of Elkhart; one sister, Wilda Waugh, of Brilliant, Ohio; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie Stead Conley, on Sep. 10, 1995, two brothers and four sisters.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Vail-Holt Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, with burial in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and after 9 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Union Lodge No., 2, F. & A.m., will conduct Masonic memorial services at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jefferson Post 9, American Legion, will conduct military rites at the graveside.
