Gary Frederick Bishman, 73, of Columbus, formerly of Marietta, went home to Heaven on Saturday (April 14, 2012).

Gary was born on April 20, 1938. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1956. Gary is a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was a member of the 81st Field Maintenance Squadron from 1956 to 1960. Upon his return from the U.S. Air Force, Gary attended classes at Marietta College. He worked for North American Aviation in Columbus, Ohio in 1961. He was a longtime faithful employee of Kardex Systems Inc., formerly known as Remington-Rand, in Marietta. He retired as Controller of Kardex Systems Inc.

Surviving are his loving daughter, Kim Fields, son-in-law, John, and two adoring granddaughters, Kate and Elizabeth, all of Columbus; a sister, Jeannine (Lloyd) Cheeseman, a brother, Michael (Chris) Bishman, both of Marietta; Sandra Bishman, loving mother of Kim, of Athens; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday (April 20) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Lou Whitney officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites.
