Terry James Caldwell, age 66, died peacefully early Saturday morning, April 21, 2012 at the Uintah Care Center in Vernal, Utah, surrounded by his wife and children following a decades-long battle with Parkinsons disease.

He was born Saturday, June 23, 1945 in Vernal, Utah, the youngest child of Orson Caldwell and Annie Birch.

He married Kathleen Kay Allen on June 2, 1966 in Vernal, Utah.

Terry attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree on June 3, 1967, after which he worked as an IRS Agent in San Francisco, California.

In 1969, Terry joined Ernst & Ernst as a Certified Public Accountant in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In 1974 he opened an accounting firm in Vernal, later inviting Boyce Coombs and Robert Foley to join him.

He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Uintah Association of Public Accountants.

He volunteered as a member of many financial committees, including the National Parks Council and the Maeser Fairview Cemetery Board.

Terry was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as Glines Fourth Ward bishop.

Many remember his dedicated service as Scoutmaster. His BSA scouting service included Timberline Youth Leadership Camp Scoutmaster, Wood Badge Staff, three times as a National Scout Jamboree Scoutmaster, and Uintah District BSA Chairman.

He was recognized as a distinguished scoutmaster at the National BSA convention in St. Louis Missouri, and received the BSA Silver Beaver Award.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Orson Caldwell (1902-1983); mother, Annie Birch Caldwell (1908-2002); and his brothers, Keith Birch Caldwell (1929-2010); Kenneth Orson Caldwell (1935-1957); and Owen Tim Caldwell (1941-2004).

He is survived by his wife; Kathleen Kay Allen Caldwell, their five children, all of whom are returned missionaries; Troy James Caldwell (Echo) of Lovell, Wyoming, Tracy Kathleen Caldwell Hunsaker (Jason) of Henderson, Nevada, Tyler James Caldwell (Rachel) of San Francisco, California, Trent Jefferson Caldwell (Cessi) of Vernal, Utah, Trevor Matthew Caldwell (Marita) of Mayfield, Kentucky, and nine grandchildren.

With the assistance of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, a viewing will be held Tuesday night, April 24, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.

A second viewing will be held Wednesday morning, April 25, 2012 at the Glines Stake Center on Aggie Boulevard (78 S 2000 W, Vernal, Utah) from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery, Uintah, Utah.
