Marvin J. Clouser, 91, of Colfax passed away April 19, 2012 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community. Mr. Clouser was born on March 28, 1921 to the late Marion and Nancy Agnes (Maguire) Clouser in Bowers, Indiana. He married Lorene Fleming and she preceded him in death in December 1993.
Mr. Clouser was a WWII veteran, 358th General Services Regiment, attached to the Engineer Special Brigade of the 1st U.S. Army. He was part of the first wave D-day invasion of Normandy Beach. For his service he was awarded four bronze stars and a proclamation from the Mayor of Antwerp, Belgium for 175 consecutive days served under v-bomb attack.
Mr. Clouser was active in the Colfax community and worked for Alcoa for 42 years. He was past president of the Alcoa Retirees club, past president of the Colfax Lions and a Lion of the Year awardee, past trustee of Colfax Christian Church, past Worshipful Master of Colfax Masonic Lodge, 50-year Free Mason, Honorary Chapter Farmer-Clinton Prairie FFA and past president of the Clinton County 4-H Council.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Dr. Rodney and Beth Clouser of Gainesville, Florida and Mr. Dennis and Carol Clouser of Cedarburg, Wisconsin. He is also survived by three grandsons: Grant, Ross and Alex Clouser, special friend Delores Hankins and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife, Mr. Clouser was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Ruth, Edna, Maurice, Mary Frances, Howard, and Martha Jane.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Colfax Christian Church with viewing one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be Sunday, April 22nd from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Archer-Weston Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Frankfort. Interment will be in Plainview Cemetery, Colfax. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be appreciated to Indiana State Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 8440 Woodfield Crossing Blvd., Suite 201, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240.
