MAYFIELD, Ky. -- George Wilburn Dowdy, 77, of the Farmington community died Tuesday at Jackson Purchase Medical Center.
He was a retired Calloway County school teacher, teaching 35 years, a retired farmer, a member of Farmington Baptist Church and the retired teachers association, an Army veteran, and Master Mason of Lodge 382.
Mr. Dowdy is survived by his wife, Peggy Jean Barton Dowdy; one son, Bradford K. Dowdy of Farmington; two daughters, Rita A. Dowdy Montgomery of Owensboro and Regina C. Dowdy Duncan of Farmington; and four grandchildren.
His parents were James W. and Etta Mae Jackson Dowdy.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Byrn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Farmington Cemetery.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday at Byrn Funeral Home.
