Bob is survived by sons, Robert J. Andrews and his wife, Carol, Michael J. Andrews, Timothy J. Andrews and his wife, Dianna, Richard J. Andrews and his wife, Sally and Mark J. Andrews, daughters, Mari J. Andrews, Peggy G. Andrews, Joan M. Sotelo and her husband, David and Christine T. Bailey and her husband, Glenn, 18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Alice, his son, John P. Andrews and his brother, Phillip Andrews.
Bob was a United States Navy veteran who served as a machinist mate during World War II aboard the submarine USS Redfish. After his discharge, Bob and Mary Alice were married.
Bob then obtained his BSME from the University of Dayton, OH, and an MBA from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH. Bob worked for the University of Dayton Research Institute from 1952 until 1977 retiring as the Associate Director of Operations at UDRI. Bob then started a career in Albuquerque as the owner of the Auto Clinic from 1977 - 1990. Bob was involved with numerous family, community, and civic organizations, volunteering as City of Kettering Planning Commissioner, troop leader with the Boy Scouts, treasurer of the New Mexico Chapter of the WWII Sub Vets and over a decade with the Albuquerque Police Department.
Bob was a mechanical genius who never shied away from any challenging problem whether it was a heat pump air condition system for the home or building his own television set.
Bob was proud of his country, work and family and never hesitated to help any of them.
Friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday April, 17, 2012 at French ~ Lomas Chapel with service to begin at 6:00 p.m. Bob will be laid to rest at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the NM Chapter of the WWII Submarine Veterans or the charity of your choice.
