Kenneth Eugene Hawk, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Willard Health Care with his family by his side.
Born January 16, 1921 in Richland county to Clarence and Anna (Frank) Hawk he had been a life long resident of Crawford and Richland county.
After attending one room schoolhouses on Settlement East Road in rural Shelby until he completed the eight grade, he was employed with Shelby Seamless Tubing, farmed for his future mother-in-law, Naomi Brown and worked at the Kettleworks in Bucyrus. Kenneth also gathered eggs from local farms and delivered them to Cleveland and Detroit "Egg Auction." He spent a majority of his life as a self-employed farmer in Plymouth and also raised hogs, chickens and cows. A member of the First United Church of Christ, he enjoyed fishing at the reservoir and Lake Erie.
He is survived by his wife Lula (Brown) Hawk whom he married June 14, 1942; three daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley Brosch of Miami, Fla., Beverly and Allan Knackstedt of Las Vegas, NV and Dorothy Giesige of Plymouth; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister Glenna Cheesman of Shelby and one brother Elvin Hawk of Sebring, Fla.; In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son James Kenneth Hawk; a brother Wilbert Hawk and sister Reatha Booker.
Private graveside services will be held Tuesday at Mansfield Memorial Park. Calling hours will not be observed. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hawk Family Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Viking Academic Boosters, Plymouth High School, 400 Trux St. Plymouth, Ohio 44865. Barkdull Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
