Bob passed away early Thursday morning at the Northern Mahaska Nursig and Rehab Center at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 26 days.

Bob Gene Wymore, son of Harry and Maude Currier Wymore, was born January 17, 1927 in Rose Hill, Iowa. He was a 1944 graduate of Rose Hill High School. June 27, 1944, he enlisted in the U.S.Navy. He served in navy aviation and was an Aviation Radioman Third Class at his time of discharge, June 20, 1946. Bob returned to Oskaloosa and began working for Mathew Lumber in Rose Hill and then Oskaloosa. Bob worked for Mathew Lumber for 45 years, retiring in 1992. After Bob's retirement, he helped with the grounds keeping at Forest Cemetery for another 10 years.

Bob married the love-of-his-life, Joann I. Sarvis, June 28, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They began their life together in Rose Hill and in 1951 moved to Oskaloosa. Bob was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church, where he taught Sunday school and served on many boards and committees. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the many vegetables he raised each year. Bob also enjoyed taking his family camping on the weekends and each summer they took a trip exploring the U.S. Bob was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Iowa Hawkeye fan; he attended as many games as possible and never missed one on TV. Bob and Joann were able to spend sixteen winters in Texas during their retirement years. There he volunteered at local schools helping children succeed in their school work. He also assisted other residents throughout their park. A highlight of his time in Texas was assisting in a program that brought food and clothing to orphanges in Mexico.

Bob's family includes his wife, Joann of Oskaloosa; his three daughters and sons-in-law: Connie and Lee Wright of Oskaloosa, Debi and Ken Fredrickson of streator, IL and Brenda and Carl Shadden of Marshalltown, IA; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nadyne Roland of what Cheer, IA.

In addition to his parents, Bob was prececed in death by an infant daughter, Jacquelyn Rae; three brothers: Aubrey, Neil and Gerald Wymore; and three sisters: Madeleine Sypherd, Wanda Hixon and Betty Curry.

Visitation: will begin at noon on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 5-7 pm to greet visitors. Funeral Service: 10:30 am Saturday morning , April 14, 2012 at Fellowship Bible Church with Pastors Rodney DeRonde and Del Bittner officiating. Interment: Forest Cemetery with military Honors by the Oskaloosa Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to missions at Fellowship Bible Church.
