Mrs. Ard was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late McLaurin and Bertie Flowers Alexander. She was a member of Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church and was formerly employed by Wal-Mart of Surfside.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by two brothers, James Alexander and Rev. Mack Alexander; and a sister, Josephine Alexander.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Legrand Ard of Murrells Inlet; three children, Michael (Darcy) Ard of Humble, Texas, Alex (Jackie) Ard of Loris and Vonda Kay Ard of Murrells Inlet; fours brothers, Lurie (Judy) Alexander Jr., of Fayetteville, N.C., Charles (Jean) Alexander of Pamplico, Rev. John (Sarah) Alexander of Walhalla and Rev. Nelson (Rose) Alexander of Florence; four sisters, Mary Plass of Florence, Betty (Jimmy) Timmons of Scranton, Dixie (Rich) Schaner of Effingham and Linda A. (Roger) Poston of Johnsonville; and five grandchildren, Eileen, Redmon, Naomi, Camilla and James.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, in Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
