Dennis James Marotz, 36, of Idaho Falls, died January 13, 2003 at his home from complications of diabetes mellitus. He was born July 11, 1966, at Ashton to Victor William Marotz and Mabel Steinmann Marotz. He grew up and attended schools in Ashton and graduated from North Fremont High School. He also graduated from Idaho State University. He then lived in Boise for one year, in Pocatello for 12 years and moved to Idaho Falls five years ago. On November 10, 1989, he married Reeca Marie Davis at Pocatello. While in Pocatello, he worked in banking and was then employed as the chief financial officer of Recreational Sports & Imports when they moved to Idaho Falls. He was a member of the Ashton Community Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Civitan Club and served on the board of Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping and frisbee golf. He was active in coaching youth sports. Survivors include his wife, Reeca Marotz of Idaho Falls, a daughter and son, Katianne Marotz and Logan Marotz, both of Idaho Falls; his parents, Vic and Mabel Marotz of Ashton, a brother, Jeff (Jo Nell) Marotz of Nampa; and three sisters, Susan (Gary) Marsden, Patti (Kerry) Huntsman, and Sandi (Bill) Bowersox, all of Ashton. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a nephew, Zachary Huntsman. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 16, at the Community Methodist Church, 178 S. Fifth St. in Ashton, with Pastor Martha Oldham officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge in Idaho Falls, and Thursday for one hour before services at the church in Ashton. Burial will be in Ashton Pineview Cemetery.
