Vera May Adcock, 93, Humansville, died Friday, July 11, 2008 in Truman Lake Manor, Lowry City. The daughter of William and Abbie (Shockley) Birdsong, she was born December 5, 1914 at Collins, MO.

A resident of Humansville since 1983, she was a former resident of Appleton City. She was a homemaker and a retired licensed practical nursing working many years at Ellett Memorial Hospital, Appleton City. Vera was a member of the Ohio Christian Church, Lowry City.

She married Robert C. Gillespie in March 1935. He preceded her in death in 1979. On October 23, 1988 she and Ralph A. Adcock were married. He preceded her in death June 24, 2002.

Her parents, a brother, Ralph Birdsong, one son, William Charles Gillespie,and one grandson also preceded her in death.

Survivors included 2 children and their spouses, Roberta and Charles Rountree, Tonganoxie, KS and Wayne and Helen Gillespie, Indianapolis, IN; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Gillespie, Kouts, IN; 1 brother, Ervin Birdsong, Snohomish, WA; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Murray Funeral Home, Humansville, with Rev. Alan Black officiating. Interment was in the Humansville Cemetery.
