Entered into eternal rest on the morning of Friday, April 6, 2012, Master Chief Petty Officer Charles Harry Blitch, Sr., USN (Ret.), husband of Lottie Mae Blitch of Folly Beach, SC. Born December 9, 1917 in Savannah, Georgia, Charles was the son of the late George Winfield Blitch and the late Lillie Carolyn Doubley. Charles did a six year enlistment in the United States Army and transferred to the United States Navy where he would complete his career retiring as a Senior Master Chief. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Following retirement, he was a U.S. Postal Rural Letter Carrier for many years and spent the rest of the time in the river. He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles H. Blitch, Jr. and Gary Allen Blitch.

He married Lottie Mae Fraser on February 18,
1942 in Savannah, Georgia.

The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Blitch, Sr. are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in J.HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy., Monday, April 9, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Born December 9, 1917 in Savannah, Georgia, Charles was the son of the late George Winfield Blitch and the late Lillie Carolyn Doubley. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, retiring as a Senior Master Chief and transferred to the U.S. Army for six years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Following retirement, he was a U.S. Postal rural letter carrier for many years and spent the rest of the time in the river. Survivors include his wife, Lottie Mae Blitch of Folly Beach, SC; a daughter-in-law Charlene Blitch of Round-O, SC; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
