Rites for Mrs. J. J. Dunn Held Saturday at Ewing
Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock, Saturday morning, Apr. 4, at the Queen of Peace Catholic church in Ewing for Mrs. J. J. Dunn, 94, who died at her home in Lewistown at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, following a long illness. Rev. Father E. N. Sturm of Canton officiated. Burial was at LaHarpe, Ill.
Nannie Bridget Glynn Dunn was born in Hancock county, Ill., Oct. 26, 1884, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Derby Glynn. Dec. 23, 1890, she was married to John Jerome Dunn at Carthage, Ill. They resided on farm near LaHarpe, Ill., moving to Lewis county in the spring of 1895, where they lived five miles south of Lewistown.
Mr. Dunn died in 1912. Mrs. Dunn moved to Lewistown with, her family in 1927. A daughter, Catherine died in 1938.
Survivors include eight children, William G. Dunn of Philadelphia, Pa., Paul Dunn of Hannibal, Louis and Thomas Dunn of Burlington, Ia., Charles Dunn, of Davenport, la., Mrs. Glenn Rogers of Canton, Mrs. W. A. Jennings and Emmett Dunn of Lewistown; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sister Vincent of Nauvoo, a brother P. D. Glynn of Fullerton, N. D.
The rosary was led Friday evening by a great-grandson, Michael Riney of Hannibal. The six sons were casketbearers. The community mourns the passing of Mrs. Dunn, who was always kind and thoughtful in every way and her cheerful disposition and lovely ways cheered many who she cared for in illness.
