North Carolina, Wilkes County. The examination of Elizabeth Marley in the said county, single woman, taken on oath before us, John M. Jones and Isaac Teague, two of the Justices of the peace in and for said county, this 25th day of March 1811, who saith that she is now with child and that said child, when it is born, is likely to be a bastard and to be chargeable to the county aforesaid and that Manly Brown in the said county is the father of said child.

North Carolina, Wilkes County, To carry lawful affixed(?) to execute (illegible) according to law (passage crossed out) Whereas, upon the examination of Elizabeth Marley, single woman this day taken oath before us, it appears that she is now with child, which child, when it shall be born, will be a bastard and may become chargeable to the said county and the said Elizabeth Marley confessed that Manley Brown of the county aforesaid did beget the said child and hath charged him with the same. These are therefore to command you to apprehend the said Manley Brown and bring him before us or any two justices of the peace for the said county to answer said charge. Given under our hands and seals this 25th March, 1811.
