Daughter of William and Mahalia Trapp Nave, wife of William Jesse Baxter and mother of Clara Baxter Smith Barragar.
Victoria Nave was born in Platte county, Mo., near Camden Point, March 25, 1843, and departed this life Dec. 12, 1910, aged 67 years, 8 months, 17 days. Her last illness was of short duration, a little less than two weeks. All that loving hands could do was done, but God in his infinite wisdom knew best and called her home to her eternal rest.
On Oct 19, 1859, she was married to W. J. Baxter in Rushville, Mo. They went directly to Clinton county, 6 miles south of Plattsburg, where Mr. Baxter was farming. They returned to Rushville in the Spring of 1862, where they resided to the present time. There was only one daughter born of this union-Clara Barrager, now living in Clarinda, Iowa. The deceased is survived by her husband, her daughter, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Jennie Haynes of Perrin, Mo., three brothers, Geo. Nave of St. Joseph, John Nave of Edmond, Okla., Thaddeus Nave of Rexburg, Idaho, and a host of other relatives.
This aged couple lived to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary on Oct. 19, 1909.
Dearest mother, thou hast left us,
Left us for the other shore;
But we soon must follow after;
Thou has only gone before.
Gone before just o'er the river
Whence no traveler e'er returned
And we hope we all shall meet her
On the resurrection morn.
Dearest mother, thou hast left us,
Here our loss we deeply feel;
