Marion Porter McNeill, 87, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, March 24, 2012 in a local hospital. He was a native of Abbeville, South Carolina and was a son of the late William and Carrie Metts McNeill. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Carol Ann McNeill.

Mr. McNeill retired after 27 years employment, from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, shop #38 as a Marine Machinist. He also retired from VEPCO after 15 years as a maintenance supervisor. He was a Baptist and a Navy World War II Veteran.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Agnes Oliver McNeill, his daughter, Janice M. Fitzpatrick and her husband William of Chesapeake, his sons, M. Porter McNeill and his wife Sheila of Chesapeake and R. David McNeill of Dumfries, VA, sisters; Minnie Epting of Columbia, SC, Virginia Richburg of New Ellington, SC and Eunice Head of Savannah, GA, brothers; Charles McNeill of Savannah, Georgia, W.D. McNeill of Murrells Inlet, SC, Lowrie McNeill of Abbeville, SC and George McNeill of Greenville, SC, Grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Benny, Patrick, Matthew, Meredith, Allison and Ashley and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Chesapeake chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 1:00 PM, by the Reverend Jonathan Carpenter. The family will receive friends in the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to the Chesapeake Humane Society.
