MRS. EFFIE COREY DEAD
Special to the Gazette:
Council Grove, Oct. 20--Mrs. Effie Corey Council Grove, died at the home of a sister, Mrs. John Edgerton, in Manhattan Saturday morning. She was a pioneer of Morris county, and lived at Parkerville more than 60 years ago. At that time she was the wife of Dr. William Swetman [sic].
Following the death of Dr. Swetman [sic] she was married to Dr. V. S. Corey, who died about 15 years ago. Since that time Mrs. Corey spent most of her time in Council Grove looking after business interests.
About three years ago Mrs. Corey sold her residence to Dr. H. B. Melchert. After that Mrs. Corey spent most of her time in Manhattan, coming to Council Grove every few months to look at property interests.
Mrs. Corey leaves one brother, Col. Ned Green of Washington, D.C., and one sister, Mrs. John Edgerton, of Manhattan.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, pending word from Colonel Green.
