A Macon native, Deacon Tarver was born to the parentage of the late Sam Ross and Mamie L. Tarver. He was a graduate of Hudson High and attended Lincoln University of Missouri. He served with distinction in the US Army during the Korean War and early Vietnam conflict. He was a member of Kings Chapel Baptist Church where he served as the past chairman of the Deacon Board, the Brotherhood and numerous other capacities until his health began to ebb. He was a retired managing Supervisor at Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Dorothy W. Tarver; one daughter, Nancy Cleveland; three grandchildren; and a host of others relatives and friends.
