Funeral service for Arthur Gordon Atkins, 72, will be Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at West Hartselle Baptist Church with Rev. Jack M. Redfearn officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Forrest Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Atkins died Monday, March 26, 2012 at Decatur General Hospital. He was born May 28, 1939, in Morgan County to William Coy Atkins and Dora Idella Sandlin Atkins.

Mr. Atkins was a member of West Hartselle Baptist Church and a member of IBEW # 558. He was a Lead Lineman and Foreman for Joe Wheeler Electric Co-op where he retired with 37 years of service. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and husband. He was a cattle farmer and loved horses.

Survivors include his Wife, Marie Atkins of Hartselle; one son, Scotty Atkins (Renae) of Hartselle; three daughters, Sheila Cook of Decatur, Karen Brock of Decatur and Stephanie Holmes (Mike) of Hartselle; one brother, Randy Atkins (Vicki) of Hartselle; two sisters, Julia Travis of Moulton and Patricia Hudson (James) of Somerville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Hope-Johnson Men's Sunday School Class of West Hartselle Baptist Church.
