Garnett H. Lyons
91, widower of Elsie W. Lyons died March 23, 2012.
He was born June 20, 1920 in Harrison Co., KY a son of the late Andrew and Anna May Lyons.
Mr. Lyons was a loving husband and partner for 68 years to Elsie, a World War II veteran, a dedicated member of the Benson United Methodist Church and the First Church of God in Cynthiana, a farmer for 12 years and worked as a homebuilder in Cynthiana for 33 years.
He was a recipient of several awards. In 1968 he recieved the Total Electric Home of the Month award for Outstanding Builder Techniques from East Kentucky R. E. C. C. Mr. Lyons served his country in World War II, in his 42 months of service in the Pacific Campaign he recieved numerous medals for sharp shooting, good conduct, Pacific Theater ribbon, service overseas, 5 hash marks and returned as a staff sergeant.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday March 29, 2012 at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Earl Litman and Rev. Bill Wilson. Burial will follow the service in the Battle Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
