Ruth Pauline Cook Beckstrand, 59, died at 3:24 PM Wednesday [July 3, 1974] in Lafayette Home Hospital, where she had been taken earlier in the day, apparently of a heart attack. She suffered a previous heart attack three months ago. She was born at Dahlgren, IL, and reared at Benton, IL, and moved to Lafayette 34 years ago from Burlington, WI. Her marriage to Wallace C. Beckstrand was in 1938; he survives.
Mrs. Beckstrand was employed the last several years in the Home Economics Department of Purdue University. She was a member of Congress Street United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and WSCS.
Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Judy (Mrs. Thomas) Rush of Lafayette, Janet (Mrs. Bowen) Akers of Trenton, NJ, and Miss Jeanne Beckstrand of San Francisco, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Kegley of Selma, OR, and Mrs. Betty Young of Allentown, PA; and four grandchildren.
