Elizabeth G. Trask was born August 8, 1915 in Pittsburg, Crawford County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Earl Bennett Trask and Mary Emma Gill Trask. Her parents separated before she was one or two years old. Her mother, Emma Trask, married the widowed James R. Kountz about 1918. The family consisted of J.R.'s two sons from his first marriage, Betty Trask, and later siblings born to J.R. and Emma Kountz. The family was living near Farlington, Crawford County, Kansas in 1920. By 1930, the family had moved to Flagler, Kit Carson, Colorado.

Betty Trask went to school in Flagler and married there. Elizabeth G. Trask married Craig L. Lana on July 5, 1936 in Flagler. They lived in Denver, Colorado a couple of years then moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska about 1938. The couple had five children--four sons and one daughter. One son, Garlyn, died in infancy.

Betty Lana worked for many years for the Scotts Bluff County Welfare office. Betty Trask Lana died June 2, 2005 in Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska.
